Create your AutoShop POS account

This guide takes you from the sign-up page to your first login. Registration happens online, so you need nothing installed: AutoShop POS runs in a web browser on a desktop, laptop or tablet. Once the account exists, the next guides walk you through business settings, staff, labour rates and parts.

Before you start

• Have your shop’s legal or trading name, the address you print on invoices and a phone number ready.
• Decide which country the business operates in (USA, UAE or Pakistan). This sets your currency and the tax wording you will see later.
• Use an email-style login or username you will keep. This first user is the owner account and has every permission.
• Open the pricing page in another tab if you have not chosen a plan yet. Bay, Shop and Fleet differ mainly in the number of technicians, VIN lookup and multi-location tools.

Steps

1. Open the sign-up page. Use the “Start free trial” button on any page of this site. It takes you to the online registration form.
2. Enter the business details. Fill in the business name, the start date of your financial year if asked, your currency and your time zone. You can change most of these later under Settings, so do not worry about getting every field perfect now.
3. Enter the owner details. Add your first and last name, a username and a strong password. Write the username down; it is what you will type on the login screen.
4. Pick a plan. Choose Bay, Shop or Fleet. If you are unsure, start with the plan that matches your current number of technicians. You can move up or down later.
5. Confirm and submit. Check the summary, accept the terms and submit the form. Your account is created and you are taken to the login page or straight into the dashboard.
6. Sign in. Log in with the username and password you just set. The first screen is the dashboard. It will be mostly empty until you add products, customers and sales.
7. Bookmark the login page. Save the address in your browser and, on a shop-floor tablet, add it to the home screen so technicians can open it in one tap.

Check it worked

• You can log out and log back in with the same username and password.
• The dashboard shows your business name in the top bar or the menu.
• Prices on the dashboard and in reports show in your chosen currency.
• Under the user menu you can see your own profile as the owner (the menu may be labelled slightly differently on your account).

When that all looks right, go on to set up your business settings.

Common problems

• “Username already taken.” Usernames are unique across the system. Add your shop name or town to it, for example mike.eastsideauto.
• The currency is wrong. Fix it under Settings → Business settings before you create any invoices. Changing currency after you have sales history makes old reports hard to read.
• You never reached the dashboard. Use the login link from the sign-up page and enter the username, not your email address, unless you chose your email as the username. If it still fails, ask support and give them your business name.
• The time zone is wrong and sale times look odd. Set the correct time zone under Business settings. New sales use it straight away.
